UFC 137: Penn vs. Diaz went down Saturday night, October 29, from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Today, the Nevada State Athletic Commission released the list of medical suspensions handed down to the fighters who competed on the card (props to MMAJunkie.com).
Brandon Vera and Bart Palaszewski were both hit with six-month suspensions, Vera for left elbow ligament tears and Palaszewski for a possibly broken right hand. Both men can be cleared early by orthopedic doctors, but are suspended until December 14 with no contact until November 29 for precautionary reasons.
Main event fighter BJ Penn took home a two-month suspension with no contact until December 14 after getting battered en route to a unanimous decision loss to Nick Diaz.
Matt Mitrione, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, George Roop, Dennis Siver, and Tyson Griffin were all suspended until December 14 with no contact until November 14 for precautionary reasons, or lacerations in the case of George Roop.
The victorious Nick Diaz is suspended for one month with no contact until November 20 for precautionary reasons, along with Danny Downes for lacerations.
