UFC 137: Scott Jorgensen Vs. Jeff Curran

A massive underdog, Curran strolls to the Octagon relaxed, to the strains of “Here I Go Again” by White Snake. Kim Winslow will oversee this bantamweight contest.

Round 1: Curran takes the center and lands an inside leg kick. Another. He tries a side kick. Curran putting the pressure on, mixing things up. Jorgensen countering occasionally, but Curran keeping in his face. Jorgensen gets Curran on the mat and lands a pair of shots before Curran starts firing off upkicks. Curran offensive off of his back, controlling Jorgensen’s posture and improving position. Jorgensen having a fit getting out of Curran’s guard. Curran sweeps briefly from butterfly and then threatens with his legs high. Jorgensen tries to get back on top and land punches but Curran keeps him tied up. Curran gets to his feet, but Jorgensen puts him right back down. Winslow stands them up with just over thirty to go. Curran lands a good right hook and a follow-up combo. Curran putting hands on Jorgensen, who goes for and gets the takedown.

Round 2: They touch gloves and take to the center. Curran with a head kick, he whiffs on a follow-up right hand. Jorgensen sticks the jab. Curran with an inside leg kick and then a failed shot. Jorgenson holds the front headlock and starts firing knees. Jorgensen pushes Curran against the cage and continues with knees from this position. Curran turns him into the cage, Jorgensen reverses. Jorgensen scoops his leg when he throws a knee and hits a nice takedown. Curran threatens to sweep and Jorgensen backs off briefly. Curran lands an uppercut before Jorgensen moves back in. Curran snatches the guillotine and Jorgensen rolls out of it. They get back to their feet. Jorgensen moves Curran into the fence. Curran lands a knee but Jorgensen puts him on the mat. Again, Jorgensen is having a hard time getting offense off, but he’s holding top position. Curran almost hits the sweep, but Jorgensen adjusts and grabs the single. Curran avoids the takedown until the bell.

Round 3: Curran pumping the left hand. He’s beating Jorgensen to the punch early on. Jorgensen gets in a stiff left. Curran with a right uppercut. Curran is landing the more effective strikes so far, but it looks like he may have injured his hand. Curran bleeding from the nose. Jorgensen getting in shots that disrupt his attack. Curran winging right hands. Right uppercut for Curran, then a leg kick. They eventually clinch up and trade knees, Jorgensen pressing Curran into the fence. Just over a minute left and Curran breaks free. A jab by Jorgensen, Curran swinging in threes. Jorgensen with a pair of straight punches. Curran shoots hard, but it’s stuffed and Jorgensen takes side control.
