It’s nearing a month since Chael Sonnen steamrolled Brian Stann at UFC 136 before going on to call out UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva to a loser-leaves-town match, but The Spider has yet to do more than dismiss Sonnen as a deserving contender in that time frame.
Never one to hold back from speaking his mind, Sonnen recently spoke with MMAHeat’s Karyn Bryant about the champion ignoring his challenge and instead calling out Michael Bisping, taking the opportunity to slam Silva and a few of his fellow Brazilian fighters.
“Anderson’s supposedly on the injured list. What are you calling guys out while you’re hurt for,” Sonnen asked. “The first guy to ever call someone out while hurt is Vitor. And now Anderson’s like, ‘Oh, I’ll just call someone out while I’m hurt too.’ It’s like, I had this run in with Wanderlei one time. He gets in the car, he’s on a cane, he can barely stand and then he wants to point a finger in my chest while he’s an invalid. It’s like, ‘I guess.’ You guys are these tough guys on TV and behind the scenes you’re just a bunch of wimps.”
