Donald Cerrone is always looking for that next fight. This Saturday night, Cerrone will meet Dennis Siver at UFC 137: Penn vs. Diaz. However, “Cowboy” is already setting his sights on a new opponent: Nam Phan.
Talking with MMAjunkie.com recently, Cerrone revealed that he has no problems dropping down to 145 pounds to face Phan, a former member of The Ultimate Fighter. Cerrone’s problems with Phan are a result of comments Phan made about teammate Leonard Garcia.
“He said if our coaches were any good, they would have taught Leonard to throw down straight punches, but they don’t know Leonard,” said Cerrone, who is very good friends with Garcia. “You could teach Leonard anything, and as soon as he gets hit, he turns into that wild caveman, and that’s just how he fights. Nam just wants to talk (expletive), so I’ll show him what our training looks like.”
Garcia and Phan split their two fights, with Phan winning earlier this month at UFC 136. Cerrone is currently riding a five-fight win streak and is 16-3 overall.
For Cerrone, he says the change to 145 pounds, “would be a lifestyle change. I eat a lot of candy. I can’t survive without candy. Milk Duds and Hot Tamales are what I love.”
