Former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz wouldn’t have picked BJ Penn for his return to the UFC if he had the choice. That doesn’t mean Diaz is going to shy away from throwing punches in bunches at “The Prodigy” when the two meet in the main event of UFC 137 this Saturday night.
Diaz, while appearing on Inside MMA recently, talked about looking up to Penn when he first broke into MMA.
“My biggest obstacle is overcoming my own personal faith in BJ Penn. I don’t look up to a lot of guys, but I looked up to BJ Penn for a long time,” Diaz said. “We’ve trained together, too. So that’s the difficult part about this fight.”
