The up-and-down ride Bellator Fighting Championships has experienced in terms of ratings continued, as this past weekend’s Bellator 55 card drew 168,000 viewers – down from the 185,000 that tuned in for Bellator 54.
Since three straight shows that drew at least 235,000 viewers, Bellator has only topped 200,000 once – for Bellator 52, which drew 269,000. The low point came with 103,000 viewers for Bellator 53. The average for the past three Bellator shows is 152,000.
Bellator 55 featured the semifinals of the bantamweight tournament, along with light heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu in a non-title fight with Travis Wiuff. The replay drew 45,000 viewers and the show was unopposed by any UFC or Strikeforce live programming.
The next event will be Bellator 56 this Saturday night from Kansas City, Kansas. Featured bouts include Ben Askren defending his welterweight title against Jay Hieron, along with the semifinals of the heavyweight tournament.
