It seemed like Shark Fights had a new main event for its upcoming card, as reports surfaced that Bobby Lashley would be facing Tim Hague for the heavyweight title at Shark Fights 21 on November 11.
According to a report by MMAjunkie.com, it is not true. The news, which was sent out via Twitter by the official Shark Fights account, was done so without knowledge of the promotion.
“It’s not Tim Hague,” Shark Fights CEO Bud Brutsman said. “We haven’t even signed him.”
Lashley was set to face Darrill Schoonover for the vacant title, but the former Ultimate Fighter cast member had to pull out due to injury last week. Lashley (6-1) is looking to build a win streak after defeating John Ott earlier this year.
Hague (13-5) fought for the UFC previously in his career. The 28-year-old was released after a loss to Matt Mitrione that dropped him to 1-4 in the promotion.
