An injury to Brad Tavares has changed Saturday’s UFC 137: Penn vs. Diaz card once again, bumping Scott Jorgensen-Jeff Curran to the pay-per-view main card.
UFC 137 will take place from Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and features a main event of BJ Penn vs. Nick Diaz at welterweight.
Dustin Jacoby, who was set to step inside the Octagon with Tavares, will now face Clifford Starks on the Facebook prelim portion of the night. Jacoby is 6-0; Starks is 7-0.
Jorgensen (12-4) and Curran (33-13) was being looked at as a main card fight after UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre was pulled from the main event against Carlos Condit. At the time, the UFC went with Jacoby and Tavares for the PPV card.
“Dana White, UFC thank you for putting my fight on PPV. I know talk is cheap, so I will just perform and do what is expected of me,” wrote Curran, on his Twitter account.
Along with Penn-Diaz and Jorgensen-Curran, Cheick Kongo and Matt Mitrione will collide in the co-main event. The other two planned main card fights are Mirko “CroCop” Filipovic vs. Roy Nelson, and Hatsu Hioki vs. George Roop.
