UFC icon Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell certainly left a void in the sport upon his retirement, even though it’s hard to argue that he made the wrong decision. Though the once-feared knockout artist is no longer actively competing, a legion of MMA fans exists that wants to see how the former UFC light heavyweight champ keeps busy these days.
FightHubTV recently caught up with the 41-year-old at The Pit’s new Las Vegas gym to find that out, learning that the Hall of Famer stays well-occupied preparing for his daughter’s birth and filling out his role as the UFC’s vice president of business development.
“I’m having a baby. I’m excited about that, that’s coming in December,” said Liddell. “I do a lot of stuff with the UFC, promoting the sport.”
The Iceman admitted that his desire to fight still burns, but that the things which prompted him to hang up his four-ouncers in the first place remain the same, so we won’t be seeing him pull a Randy Couture and un-retire anytime soon.
“People ask, ‘Do you want to fight?’ I’m always gonna want to fight, but the reasons I retired are gonna stay the same,” he said. “It took a long time to make the decision and when I made it, that was my decision.”
