Ed Soares, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s manager, continues to speak for “The Spider.” While appearing on a recent episode of Sherdog Radio Network’s “Rewind” Show, Soares discussed the possibility of Silva-Chael Sonnen II happening.
“Anderson just feels that he doesn’t deserve it yet,” Soares said. “He doesn’t deserve it yet…A lot of people are interested in the fight. It’s a big fight. Anderson’s not ducking him.”
In just about the same sentence, however, Soares admitted that whoever the UFC puts in front of Silva isn’t really up to them, adding, “Whoever Dana (White) puts in front of us, for the most part, we’re always going to take the fight. (Anderson has) never dodged any fights.”
Sonnen has made it his mission to gain another shot at Silva since the pound-for-pound king earned a submission victory over him last year. Sonnen called out Silva for a rematch in February after defeating Brian Stann at UFC 136 recently.
“It’s really not up to us to determine,” Soares said. “I’m not saying that’s who we want or who we don’t want. People ask my opinion, and I see what Anderson’s saying. He’s fought him once. He had his opportunity, but hey, if Dana wants to put the fight on again, we’ll cross that bridge when it comes.”
During the interview, Soares also made mention of Silva taking on Dan Henderson again down the road. Henderson has said the only way he drops down to 185 pounds is for a rematch with Silva.
