Jorge Santiago’s second stint with the UFC didn’t go much better than his first, as he was released by the promotion following a second straight defeat at UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III, according to Tatame.com.
Santiago (23-10) won two straight fights, and 11 of 12, after being cut by the UFC after back-to-back losses to Chris Leben and Alan Belcher in 2006. Santiago put together a strong resume by competing with World Victory Road in Japan prior to returning to the Octagon.
After requesting his release from World Victory Road, Santiago was paired with Brian Stann at UFC 130. He suffered a second round TKO loss to Stann. Demian Maia went on to defeat Santiago earlier this month via unanimous decision.
