“M-1 Challenge 27″ Results; Magalhaes Retains Title

The Ultimate Fighter 8 runner-up and current M-1 Global light heavyweight champion Vinny Magalhaes continued on with his winning ways last night at M-1 Challenge 27, where he took out Mikhail Zayats via third round TKO to bring his current winning streak to five straight.

Also on the card was an interim heavyweight championship bout (M-1 Global heavyweight champ Guram Gugenishvili was originally supposed to appear on the card, but was forced out due to injury) between Kenny Garner and Maxim Grishin; Garner beat Grishin via submission due to punches in the fifth round.

The card took place at the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix, Arizona last night and aired on Showtime. The full results for the event are below.

-Welterweight: Mike Chavez defeated Joe Martinez via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
-Catchweight (158): Ryan Crouch defeated Fredrik Lumpkin via TKO (punches) in round 2.

Main Card

-Welterweight: Daniel Madrid defeated Tom Gallicchio via submission (armbar) at 0:48 of round 1.
-Welterweight: Yasubey Enomoto defeated Josh Thorpe via submission (triangle choke) at 1:07 of round 1.
-Middleweight: Arthur Guseinov defeated Eddie Arizmendi via submission (heel hook) at 0:50 of round 1.
-Interim Heavyweight Title Fight: Kenny Garner defeated Maxim Grishin via submission (punches) at 4:07 of round 5.

Main Event

-Light Heavyweight Title Fight: Vinny Magalhaes defeated Mikhail Zayats via TKO (head kick and punches) at 1:13 of round 3.
