Countdown to UFC 139: Shogun vs. Henderson will air this November 14 on Spike TV at 11p.m. ET.
The hour-long show will promote the light heavyweight main event between former Strikeforce champ Dan Henderson and former UFC light heavyweight champ Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. The fight between former Pride veterans will headline the promotion’s first foray into San Jose, California.
After being dethroned by 24-year-old wunderkind Jon “Bones” Jones last spring, Shogun threw himself right back into the fray of contenders by scoring an emphatic first round knockout of fellow former champ Forrest Griffin.
Henderson left the UFC in 2009 on a high note, having absolutely smashed Michael Bisping in front of a huge audience at the landmark UFC 100 event. He would suffer defeat to Jake Shields in his first fight with the promotion, but went on to capture the light heavyweight crown and to defeat Fedor Emelianenko in a heavyweight bout.
UFC 139 will also feature an intriguing middleweight tilt between Wanderlei Silva and Cung Le. The event is to take place on November 19 at the HP Pavilion.
