Rich Franklin’s business manager, J.T. Stewart, sent out a press release which stated “Ace” underwent successful surgery to fix his shoulder and is looking to return to the UFC in mid-2012.
“I spoke with Rich, he’s feeling great and as soon as the doctor gives him the go-ahead, he’s ready to start training again,” Stewart said. “If everything goes as expected, UFC fans could see Rich Franklin back in the Octagon in late summer.”
Franklin was set to face off with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira this past August at UFC 133, but Nogueira was pulled from the fight with an injury. UFC officials looked to schedule the fight for this coming December, but Franklin’s doctor told him he needed surgery and would not be able to compete.
“My shoulder surgery went well. Gotta love getting holes drilled into your bone!! I’ll be doing a Twitter blog soon. Details to come,” Franklin wrote on his Twitter account Wednesday.
