The recent announcement that Brock Lesnar will appear in the WWE ’12 video game, along with comments made by the former UFC heavyweight champion concerning one final match in the wrestling promotion, have led many to believe it is only a matter of when – not if – he returns to sports entertainment.
UFC President Dana White, in an interview with The MMA Digest, squashed any speculation over Lesnar stepping back into a squared ring while still a UFC fighter.
“Brock Lesnar will never wrestle for the WWE while he’s under contract to me. But to be in their video game? That’s part of his history. He came from the WWE. I brought Brock Lesnar into the UFC,” White said. “The WWE built him up into the star that he was and for me to go back and now say, ‘No, he’s mine,’ I don’t care about that. It doesn’t affect me or my business personally and it helps my athlete.”
Lesnar will make his return to the Octagon in December when he welcomes former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem to the UFC at UFC 141 in Las Vegas.
