GSP Impressed By Condit, But Thinks He Can Get The Finish

After an opponent shake-up thanks to Nick Diaz’s refusal to do media for his originally scheduled fight against UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, GSP will make the next defense of his welterweight title against Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit.

The two Greg Jackson-trained welterweights will square off on October 29 in the main event of UFC 137, which is to take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. St-Pierre has said more than once that he believes Condit to be a tougher and more deserving opponent than Nick Diaz, but he still thinks that he’ll be able to put him away within the distance.

“I’m going to have to deal with a guy that has knockout power, very technical striker and a great ground game as well. An unpredictable fighter,” assessed St-Pierre. “I’ve seen a lot of improvement in Carlos’ game, but I believe I’m a more improved fighter than him. I have a game plan to take care of Carlos and I will execute it. He’s not my friend and I don’t put any emotion in, but I do believe I will have the key to victory. I do believe I will be able to knock him out or submit him. I will remain the welterweight champion.”
