UFC 136: Leonard Garcia Vs. Nam Phan

Round 1: Phan takes the center early, looking to take the fight to Garcia. Garcia has taken a more disciplined approach early, countering well with straight punches and kicks as Phan moves forward. It’s Phan looking to make this one a brawl; he backs Garcia into the fence and tees off with hooks. Phan drops Garcia with a straight shot and follows him down. Garcia establishes a closed guard and they stalemate, the ref stands them up. They high five and go back at it. Garcia is landing nice leg kicks, but Phan is fighting with a purpose and he lands a few separate punches that sting Garcia. Garcia tries for the takedown, but Phan hits a sick whizzer and avoids. Phan lands a good left hook to the body, he’s trying to hurt Garcia. Garcia lands a good body kick. As Phan presses forward and starts doing more damage, Garcia begins to revert to his winging, single-shot style. Phan turns it on with a series of right hands, but they briefly break when Garcia gets poked in the eye. They get back to it and Phan defends a takedown, ending up on top of Garcia. scores the round 10-9 for Phan

Round 2: Garcia lands a good one-two to open things. Pahn moves in and lands a damaging sequence of hooks to the head and body. Garcia is starting to throw caution to the wind, winging and telegraphing his shots. Phan is avoiding and countering well. Phan backs Garcia down with some nice, straight punches. Garcia lands a good right uppercut and Phan responds with hard shots to the body. Phan is dotting Garcia up with punches in bunches. Garcia is returning single shot power counters. Phan hurts Garcia with a hard shot to the body. Garcia’s hands are low, his mouth is open and his shots are coming from a mile away. Phan goes hard with two left hooks to the body. Phan is lighting Garcia up, his punches are starting to show their effect, with Garcia bleeding under his right eye. Phan avoids a salvo from Garcia and returns with a series of technical, crisp punches. scores the round 10-9 for Phan

Round 3: They touch gloves for the last round. Garcia comes out with more kicks and technique than last round, landing his most significant shots of the fight. Garcia working goood leg kicks, but Phan is adjusting and finding his rhythm. Phan lands a hard left hook to the body. Garcia drops Phan with a right hand and backs him into the fence, where he tees off on him with hard punches. Phan is hanging in there, but Garcia has him on the figurative ropes. They clinch to get some rest and Phan circles out. Phan seems to have recovered, he’s back in Garcia’s face. Phan is countering well now, dotting up his opponent with crisp shots. Phan showing some slick head movement and footwork. He hits the takedown and lands in guard. The crowd boos, wanting more of the action. The ref stands them up, hey high five and get back to it. Garcia lands a good combo punctuated with a leg kick. Garcia wings a spinning back fist that misses. Phan goes right back at him with nice punches. Garcia goes for the takedown and gest it briefly, but Phan pops right back to his feet and goes back with the punches. They slug it out until the bell. scores the round 10-9 for Garcia
