Rumors have started to circulate that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is not able to train for his December bout with Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 and will be forced to pull out of the planned bout.
This past weekend while attending UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson, UFC President Dana White denied those reports.
“It’s not true, White told MMAjunkie.com. “And it actually can’t be any further (from) the truth.”
Lesnar (5-2) has been out of action due to a second bout of diverticulitis since last October, when he lost the title to Cain Velasquez. Overeem (35-11) will be making his debut with the UFC.
“When I talk to this guy, he’s so healthy and feeling good, he’s actually quite pleasant to talk to these days,” White said. “I can have a conversation with him forver on the phone now. It’s like night and day.”
UFC 141 takes place December 30 from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The only other bout set for the card is a welterweight clash between Jon Fitch and Johny Hendricks.
