February is going to have an extra-long day of MMA, as the UFC is going to air two events back-to-back, with one emanating from Japan and another from Las Vegas.
UFC President Dana White said after Saturday’s UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson show that both events will air live on TV, with the card from Japan being shown on one of FOX’s cable channels and the other being available on pay-per-view.
“It’s going to happen,” White said. “It’ll be live in Japan and live in the United States.”
The UFC will be heading back to Japan for the first time since late 2000. White made sure to let fans know that both cards will feature top-level fights and fighters.
Both events will be shown in the U.S. on Saturday, February 25. To make everything work, the show in Japan will actually be on Sunday, February 26 beginning at 10 a.m. local time, allowing it to air immediately before the Las Vegas-based pay-per-view.
