UFC Live 6: Anthony Johnson Vs. Charlie Brenneman

Round 1: They touch gloves and take to the center. Johnson is the aggressor early on; he stuffs a takedown attempt by Brenneman and holds top position, pounding him with hard right hands. Johnson starts in with knees to the body to a turtled Brenneman; things aren’t looking great right now for The Spaniard. Johnson spins to the back. Brenneman starts to improve his position and ends up securing half guard. He threatens with the guillotine, but Johnson avoids and gets to his feet. He grazes Brenneman with a head kick and is all over him as he tries to get to his feet. He smacks Brenneman in the face with a head kick and it knocks him to the mat; though Brenneman is still conscious and lands on his elbows, Mario Yamasaki calls a stop to things.

Johnson says he’s happy with his performance, especially after taking heat for the decision over Dan Hardy. He says Brenneman was one of the first opponents he’s ever been nervous about, because he respects his grappling and his camp. Asks for a round of applause for his opponent.
