UFC Live 6: Josh Neer Vs. Keith Wisniewski

Round 1: No glove touch between these two veterans. Neer takes the center early; they trade shots before clinching up and moving toward the cage. Both men very relaxed. Neer doing good work with the right leg kick. Neer grabs the plum, but Wisniewski keeps good posture and avoids any knees. Neer bullies Wisniewski to the fence and works his body. Good knee by Wisniewski. Neer is the aggressor so far, but Wisniewski might be opening up. Neer drops his mouthpiece, doesn’t care to get it washed off before resuming action. Wisniewski lands a good left hand, but Neer returns fire with a nice combination. They clinch and trade punches from the phone booth. Neer appears to be landing the more significant offense so far; landing some nice elbows from the clinch to finish the round.

Round 2: Neer is having some slight difficulty with Wisniewski’s height and reach advantage, but he’s still pushing forward more and finding more success offensively. From the clinch, Neer lands some more nice, short elbows. They work the Thai clinch against the fence, with Neer continually landing elbows. Wisniewski returns fire with one of his own, but Neer is getting the better of it. Neer is stalking down a bloodied Wisniewski, landing nice punches before they clinch again. Wisniewski is absorbing a ton of shots and the ref calls a halt to retrieve Neer’s mouthpiece from in between the cracks of the mat and the fence as well as to look at Wisniewski’s bloodied mug. After a prolonged break, they resume. Neer defends the takedown against the fence and continues to land elbows, wrecking Wisniewski’s face. Neer has to be setting a record for standing elbow strikes landed tonight. Neer is pouring it on Wisniewski as the round winds down, chasing him down with punches. Neer goes for the standing guillotine at the end of the round and Wisniewski’s face leaks something nasty from the squeezing.
