One of Pat Barry’s closest friends, Matt Mitrione, has made comments saying the two would be willing to square off if the price was right. It would seem Barry is in full agreement with those statements.
“HD” meets Stefan Struve in the co-main event of UFC on Versus 6 Saturday night from Washington, D.C. Both Barry (6-3) and Struve (21-5) will be looking to rebound from knockout losses in their last bouts, respectively, in the Octagon.
“I’ve known Stefan for two or three years now,” said Barry, in an interview with ESPN.com. “The closer you get to the top of the mountain, the smaller the space there is for people. Eventually, we are going to have to fight each other.”
While some feel very strongly against competing with teammates and friends, especially those at American Kickboxing Academy who have said they will never face each other, Barry is on the other end of that thought process.
“Eventually you might have to fight your brother or your teammate,” Barry said. “There’s just not enough room for everybody at the top. We’re in the UFC. This is the top of the mountain. You can’t go any higher.”
FightLine.com will have complete coverage with all the latest news and results from UFC on Versus 6 beginning Saturday.
