UFC President Dana White told Yahoo! Sports in an interview Tuesday that the UFC is planning on holding shows in Japan and Las Vegas on the same day.
“We’ll be doing a lot of that in the future,” White said.
The UFC is planning to return to Japan on Sunday, February 26 from the Saitama Super Arena. That show would take place in early afternoon in Japan so that it can air in the U.S. on February 25 in the usual pay-per-view time slot. White wouldn’t discuss how the UFC would handle a dual-show evening from a television standpoint, just saying, “You’ll see.”
The WWE did the same thing in 1986 for Wrestlemania II, running one-hour segments from three different locations. It marked the first and only time Vince McMahon tried such a thing. White said that airing fights from another venue into the live show was not part of the current plans.
The UFC will be returning to Japan for the first time since 1997 and UFC Japan: Ultimate Japan.
