The fighters who competed on tonight’s UFC 135: Jones vs. Jackson fight card delivered the excitement and main card fighters Jon Jones, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Josh Koscheck, and Nate Diaz all took home $75,000 for their efforts.
Jones and Jackson were awarded Fight of the Night for their four-round light heavyweight tilt, which saw Jones retain his belt by thoroughly dominating Jackson en route to a submission finish in the fourth round. Jones made the first defense of his title with the win and became the first man in ten years to finish Rampage via submission, proving once and for all that his hype is well deserved.
Koscheck pocketed the seventy-five large thanks to his efforts against UFC Hall of Famer and former welterweight champ Matt Hughes. Koscheck pushed through early resistance by the 37-year-old and quickly stole the momentum of the fight by landing hard punches that put Hughes on queer street. Hughes was never able to recover and eventually wound up on his back, with Koscheck raining down blows from above. The fight was halted at 4:59 of the first round.
Finally, Nate Diaz was given the Submission of the Night bonus for his immensely impressive performance against Takanori Gomi. Diaz lit Gomi up at range with straight punches and sealed the deal after The Firebal Kid took him down, tapping him with an armbar that he’d transitioned to from the triangle.
UFC 135 went down tonight from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
