Starting next year, there will be no more need for MMA fans to watch fights via stream on Facebook, according to UFC President Dana White.
Recently, White stated in an interview that beginning in 2012, all fights will be available on television thanks to the new FOX deal worked out between the UFC and the TV network.
“Yeah, it will go away when the FOX deal starts, which is in January,” said White, in an interview posted on You Tube recently. “Because all that programming now, I mean the reason we did the Facebook fights was because nobody could see those fights. So we put them up on Facebook as an option for fans, because we always love to give more fights. But with the face that FOX wants to pick up all these fights, they’ll be on television now.”
The UFC has shown prelim fights on both Facebook via live stream and Spike TV with a one-hour special that usually shows two fights and serves as the lead-in for the upcoming pay-per-view.
White did not mention which network the undercard fights would be shown on or how they would be broadcast.
