The UFC has adopted an iron fist when it comes to dealing with pay-per-view piracy; the promotion has made it a crusade to stop all sites hosting their events illegally and now it looks like they’re prepared to go after those who traffic the sites as well.
In a Twitter exchange with a concerned MMA fan, White hinted at a new piracy policy for the coming year.
“@danawhite I’m talking about ufc ppv piracy,” wrote the fan. “Why would all the viewers get punished if they aren’t the ones streaming ufc ppv events?”
Say what you will about White, but he is ardent in responding to fans on Twitter, even the ones with which he doesn’t agree. White wrote back promptly, explaining what both host sites to and viewers of illegal UFC pay-per-view events can expect for the future.
“the government is literally going to people’s homes and taking them to jail. Wait and c what happens in the next few months,” he warned.
In the UFC boss’ eyes, stealing is illegal and so is acquiring stolen goods and that’s what this whole thing boils down to.
“it’s illegal and everyone knows it,” posted White. “The FBI is going after everyone!!”
