Props to MMAJunkie.com for compiling the figures and reporting the numbers. Bear in mind that these figures will be made official after the Louisiana State Boxing and Wrestling Commission look over them
and are subject to change at their scrutiny. The official figures will be released this week.
On the main card, UFC middleweight Alan Belcher made a successful return from a career-threatening eye injury to force Jason MacDonald to verbally submit to strikes in the first round. For scoring more significant offense, Eric Koch took a unanimous decision win over Jonathan Brookins, despite Brookins’ blanketing him against the fence for much of the fight — a sign of increased awareness by the judges? Court McGee turned in a blue collar performance by out-gritting Dongi Yang en route to a unanimous decision.
In the night’s main event, longtime top welterweight/middleweight Jake Shields was run through by rising star Jake Ellenberger, who put an end to things early on in the first round with a hard knee from the clinch and some follow-up ground and pound shots, earning a TKO victory.
UFC Fight Night 25 went down at the Ernest N. Morial Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
