“Rampage” Jackson: “I Am The Present” Of The UFC Light Heavyweight Division

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s blog on Yahoo! Sports continues to provide some excellent bulletin board material for UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

As freely as Jackson fires off remarks against Jones just days away from their meeting at UFC 135 next Saturday in Denver, it is quite obvious “Rampage” feels like he will be wearing the UFC belt when he departs the “Mile High City.”

“I know he’s got some great skills and honestly I am impressed how fast he’s learned – he is the future of the division in my opinion, but I am the present,” Jackson wrote. “‘Rampage’ is the present of the UFC light heavyweight division.”

Jackson feels like the title belongs back around his waist as he was the one to unify the UFC and Pride championships when he defeated Dan Henderson.

“Bones” is still a rising prospect who got the opportunity to face Mauricio “Shogun” Rua earlier this year after Rashad Evans was forced out of a planned title fight due to an injury.

Jones took advantage, capturing the belt. This will be his first title defense.

“Jon Jones does unpredictable things but, really, we’ve seen it now bro, so it is not unpredictable any more. We’ve seen the spinning elbow four or five times, Jon “Bones” Jones,” Jackson wrote. “We’ve all seen it. Maybe Jon Jones is going to get me with some knees – I expect that, it is a fight – but I am gonna get him with my hands, too. You look at those Bambi legs and wonder what happens when I hit him.”

UFC 135: Jones vs. Rampage takes place September 24 from the Pepsi Center in Denver. Matt Hughes vs. Josh Koscheck will serve as the co-main event for the card.
