“Jacare” Souza Will Compete In ADCC, Roger Gracie A No-Go

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza lost his Strikeforce middleweight championship to Luke Rockhold at Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov recently.

Still, Souza will honor his committment to fight at the ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) Submission Wrestling World Championship against champion Braulio Estima in a super fight September 24-25 in Nottingham, England.

“Let’s move on, let’s keep our head up. Now it’s submission time, get ready for me Braulio,” Souza wrote on his Twitter account.

Roger Gracie, who suffered a knockout loss to Muhammed Lawal at the same event Souza competed on, will not fight at ADCC. Gracie owns three world titles in the open class of jiu-jitsu.

“I won’t fight the ADCC. I had in mind maybe I was fighting it, because every time I fought world before fighting MMA I didn’t feel good,” Gracie said in an interview with “I’m upset about it, but my priority has changed, I’m closer to MMA and leaving jiu-jitsu aside a little.”
