Brian Foster, who has been out of action for over a year due to injury, has received permission from the UFC to fight outside the company.
Foster (15-5) will meet Jack Mason at Cage Warriors 44 on October 1 from the HMV Forum in London, England, according to a report in MMAjunkie.com that was confirmed by Cage Warriors executive Graham Boylan.
Foster was pulled from a planned UFC 129 fight in April after it was discovered that a brain hemorrhage was discovered by a doctor.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Foster had to have a testicle removed after it burst due to a groin kick in early March.
The 27-year-old has won three of his last four fights in the UFC, with the lone loss coming to Chris Lytle in 2010. His only other defeat in the company came via submission to Rick Story in a fight that won Fight of the Night honors at UFC 103.
Mason is 16-4 since an early four-fight losing streak to start his career. He is 17-8 overall.
The Foster-Mason bout will be contested at a catchweight of 181 pounds.
