Video: Jake Ellenberger Says Jake Shields “Not A Big Step Up In Competition”

25-5 welterweight fighter Jake Ellenberger will get to face a step up in competition this Saturday when he takes on former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields at UFC Fight Night 25.

Considered to be one of the best welterweights in the world, Shields recently challenged UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre for the title and, though he lost a clear-cut unanimous decision, he was the first man to steal a round from the dominant French-Canadian in several fights.

On a four-fight winning streak since losing a controversial decision to Carlos Condit back in 2009, Ellenberger has made a name for himself in the welterweight division and is heralded by many as being a future contender to the throne. In the below video, The Juggernaut discusses with Fighthub how he doesn’t consider his formidable opponent to be a big step up in competition.

UFC Fight Night 25 goes down this Saturday. will have live, ongoing coverage of the event — which takes place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana — so, don’t forget to check back on Saturday night!
