M-1 Global Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan has made it official: Fedor Emelianenko will face Jeff Monson in his next fight.
“Fedor vs Monson is official for November in Russia. The Last Emperor returns!!!” Kogan posted on his Twitter account earlier this morning.
The bout is expected to take place on November 12 from Fedor’s native country.
It has been a rough 2011 for the former heavyweight champion, as Emelianenko lost to both Antonio Silva and Dan Henderson this year, adding to the 2010 loss he suffered to Fabricio Werdum that stunned everyone in the MMA world.
Now, the 34-year-old will face Monson (42-12), who he was suppose to meet in 2007 before negotiations feel through.
Monson has for his release from the UFC at that time just so he could face off with Fedor. He lost to Daniel Cormier earlier this year by decision, stopping a eight-fight win streak.
