Frank Trigg knew he was in a no-win situation facing Jim Wallhead at BAMMA 7 Saturday night.
Trigg was set to meet Tom Watson on the card in a bout for the BAMMA middleweight championship. But, when Watson was injured and replaced by Wallhead, Trigg put in up against an opponent looking to make a name for himself.
Wallhead did just that, scoring a split decision victory over Trigg, 29-28, 28-29 and 30-27. Wallhead is now 22-6, rebounding from a loss to Rick Hawn in Bellator with the victory over Trigg (21-9), who saw his two-fight win streak snapped.
In the co-main event of the night, Paul Daley earned a decision over Jordan Radev, 30-27, 29-28, 29-28. The bout was contested at a catchweight of 176 pounds after Daley had trouble weighing in due to a broken sauna at the hotel of the fighters.
Also on the card, Jack Marshman claimed the British middleweight title by TKO over Carl Noon, while Rob Sinclair defended his lightweight title with a knockout of Diego Vital.
