Vitor Belfort will not get a rematch with Anderson Silva for the UFC middleweight championship just yet.
Instead, Belfort will collide with former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le at UFC 139 on November 19 in San Jose, California.
It is possible that this fight could serve as the main event, as the planned headline fight – Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos for the UFC heavyweight title – was recently pulled and placed on UFC on FOX 1.
Le (7-1) has competed only once in the past three years due to movie role obligations. He has pushed for an opportunity to fight on the San Jose UFC card, as he lives in the area while training with American Kickboxing Academy.
“I am honored to be part of the UFC and would like to thank Dana White & Lorenzo Fertittat for this opportunity,” Le wrote on his Twitter account.
Belfort (20-9) is coming off a first-round knockout of Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 133 in August.
