The MMA world has been in a tizzy over the last few days as a result of the Nick Diaz-induced shuffling of the UFC 137 main and co-main events.
With most of the attention being placed on the Diaz debacle, the fact that the semi-finals round of the limping Strikeforce World Heavyweight Grand Prix is going down this Saturday has widely flown under the radar. In addition to GP match-ups between Josh Barnett and Sergei Kharitonov, Antonio Silva and Daniel Cormier, there will be a middleweight championship bout between champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Luke Rockhold, as well as an intriguing light heavyweight tilt between Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal and Roger Gracie.
For his part, King Mo told gathered media today (props to MMAWeekly) that he’s frankly annoyed by the lack of media coverage and their misplaced focus on the drama surrounding Diaz and UFC 137.
“I don’t even know what to say really. I’m just ready to fight on Saturday,” said Lawal. “I was hoping there would be more people out here, more media and more questions. But, really, I guess y’all don’t care about us that much. Me and Roger are gonna put on a good fight, it’s gonna be a good card and I think people are gonna miss out on it because everybody is worrying about other issues instead of the fights this weekend. I’m just being real. That’s it.”
