Kenny Florian came under fire for some of his comments during UFC 134: Silva vs. Okami last weekend, especially in regards to the Ross Pearson-Edson Barboza fight.
Florian, who was filling in alongside Mike Goldberg for Joe Rogan, spoke to FiveOuncesOfPain.com for an exclusive to clear up his thoughts on the fight.
During the fight action, many critics believe “KenFlo” was favoring Barboza, as he rarely credited the Brit for his pressure and boxing.
“The way I saw it, I thought Ross fought brilliantly,” Florian said. “However, I just thought that Barboza was consistently throwing more punches and landing more shots. Ross did well in every round, but I had Barboza winning 29-28 pretty clearly.
“I thought the knockdown, the variety of striking, and Barboza thwarting the takedowns of Pearson’s were the difference. By no means did he blow Pearson out of the water but I thought he won 29-28.”
Two of the three judges who scored the fight agreed with Florian, giving Barboza the decision.
Florian now turns his attention to an October 8 meeting with UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo in the co-main event of UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III.
