According to a report on ESPNInsider.com, former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will not be named as a participant in the main event of the first UFC on FOX card.
UFC President Dana White confirmed Thursday night that the main event for the November 12 card will be announced today at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. FightLine.com will have you covered with all the latest news from the press conference.
Rua defeated Forrest Griffin this past weekend at UFC 134: Silva vs. Okami, rebounding from a loss to Jon Jones in his first defense of the UFC title earlier this year.
Instead of fighting on FOX, it would seem Rua will be back inside the Octagon either at UFC 140 in Toronto on December 10, or the unannounced UFC 141 card set for around New Year’s from Abu Dhabi.
It is also still being reported that Rua may face off with current Strikeforce light heavyweight champion and unsigned free agent Dan Henderson, meaning Henderson also would not be part of the FOX card, something “Hendo” confirmed via text to ESPN Thursday evening.
Again, stay tuned to FightLine.com throughout the day for all your latest UFC on FOX news.
