A report on the site, MixFight.nl, a leading Dutch MMA source, claimed an agreement between the UFC and Alistair Overeem had been reached.
But, Golden Glory head Bas Boon denied the report, saying it was mere “speculation” at this point.
Boon confirmed that talks between the two are ongoing, but did not say if they were close to an agreement.
MixFight.nl says that the news come from a “generally reliable” Golden Glory source, adding that Overeem “will get the deal of a lifetime.”
“The Reem” is 35-11 and currently holds the Strikeforce heavyweight championship, the DREAM interim heavyweight title and is the reigning K-1 World Grand Prix champion.
Overeem and three other Golden Glory fighters were released due to dealings between the team and Zuffa, the parent company of both the UFC and Strikeforce.
Rumors of a possible Overeem-Brock Lesnar fight have been circulating, and former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir has mentioned an interest in meeting Overeem should he sign with the UFC.
