MMAJunkie.com has reported that UFC Fight Night 25 is now less two competitors, as welterweight DaMarques Johnson and featherweight Mackens Semerzier have announced their respective withdrawals from the fight card.
A contestant on the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter, Johnson has posted a 3-3 record in the UFC, with one Knockout of the Night and one Submission of the Night to his credit. At 12-9 overall, Johnson’s most recent performance saw him lose a fight to Amir Sadollah that he took on short notice. He was scheduled to face off against Clay Harvison at the UFC Fight Night 25.
Harvison is now expected to face off against Seth Baczynski.
A WEC carryover, Semerzier owns an impressive submission victory over Wagnney Fabiano which he scored in his debut with that promotion. Da Menace was allowed a fight in the UFC even after posting a three-fight losing streak, likely because that streak culminated in a Fight of the Night performance against Cub Swanson. In his debut in the UFC, Semerzier took out The Ultimate Fighter 12 contestant Alex Caceres via rear-naked choke in the first round. The 30-year-old fighter was set to face Mike Lullo and, as of now, there has been no replacement opponent set for Lullo.
UFC Fight Night 25 is scheduled to take place on September 17 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
