Say what you will about Paul Daley’s attitude, but the guy is certainly prolific.
Shortly after signing on the dotted line to face off against Jordan Radev at BAMMA 7 on September 10, Semtex agreed to face off against Luigi Fioravanti in the main event of Ringside 12 this October.
It’s no wonder Daley is looking to string together some wins, his job in Strikeforce became threatened when his old bosses at Zuffa took the company over. Now, with two straight losses under his belt, Daley is probably feeling some pressure to perform. The 28-year-old British slugger lost to then Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz in one of the single best rounds of the year, but subsequently dropped a plodding decision to Tyron Woodley which once again highlighted his inability to defend the takedown. When he can keep it on the feet though, Daley has proven to be one of the most potent fighters in the world at welterweight.
An MMA veteran with many UFC fights to his credit, Fioravanti is the kind of journeyman fighter that will always serve as a litmus test for up-and-comers. Currently on a two-fight losing streak courtesy Andrei Semenov and Joe Doerkson, the 22-10 American Top Team product will no doubt be looking to pull off a big upset over Daley.
Ringside 12 is to take place on October 21 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
