Round 1: No glove touch for the first SpikeTV-aired prelim bout. Miller catches a kick and throws a hard right hand. Palhares lands a hard right himself before pulling guard. He immediately threatens with a volley of submissions that cause Miller to back out to his feet. Palhares going to work with thudding leg kicks. Palhares lands a front kick that knocks Miller back and opens the door to a takedown. Miller reverses though and hits a double leg takedown of his own. Palhares with an over hand right and a leg kick. Miller throwing straight down the pipe, but Palhares is landing a bit more significantly with some hard overhand rights. Palhares drops Miller with a head kick and swarms him with ground and pound, but Palhares stops and celebrates before ref Herb Dean calls the fight. Dean has to pull him down from straddling the cage to break the news. Miller knocks Palhares down in return when they finally get back at it and then Palhares scores a double leg before the round ends.
Well, that’s another weird footnote for Palhares’ career.

Round 2: Miller gets poked early on and Palhares just starts to bull Miller around the cage. He lands some good knees before putting Miller on the mat. He avoids a triangle from Miller. Palhares is going to work with ground and pound from the top and is warned repeatedly for grabbing the fence. Miller is on his back, covering up against the fence, getting beat on. Palhares slams him every time he looks to set up a sub. Palhares is slowing his assault, but he’s still completely dominating Miller. Miller is bloody and absolutely battered. Dean warns Miller of the stoppage. He’s hanging on, but barely.
FightLine.com scores the round 10-8 for Palhares
Round 3: Palhares looks to have slowed down, but Miller may be too beaten to turn things around. Miller landing some nice jabs. He puts together some straight punches that keep Palhares honest. Palhares hammers home a hard leg kick and right hand combo. Miller with a one-two. The pace has slowed considerably here, with Palhares having basically hit the brakes and Miller being a little too worn to really turn it up. Miller is getting the better of the exchanges though, sticking some good straight shots. Palhares lands well to the body and then the head. Both men are moving forward and landing half-hearted strikes, which they do until the bell.

Palhares pretty much just ignores Kenny Florian’s question about why he celebrated the victory when the fight wasn’t stopped. Weird.
