It has been announced that both the weigh-ins and preliminary fights scheduled for Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov will be shown live on HDNet.
The event goes down September 10 from the Cincinnati U.S. Bank Arena. The main card, which features both grand prix semifinals between Josh Barnett and Sergei Kharitonov, and Daniel Cormier vs. Antonio Silva, will be available on Showtime.
Headlining the prelim card will be bouts between Mike Kyle and Marcos Rogerio de Lima, and Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante vs. Yoel Romero.
Jordan Mein will meet Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos in another prelim fight, while Alexis Davis meets Amanda Nunes in the fourth and final bout.
“As we continue to showcase some of the sport’s up-and-coming talent on our prelims, we’re excited to be able to air them live on HDNet,” Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said. “We’re excited to give Strikeforce fans even more access to great fights.”
This will be “Feijao’s” sixth fight under the Strikeforce banner, as returns to action for the first time since losing the Strikeforce light heavyweight title to Dan Henderson in March. Prior to that, he had won three straight fights and six of his last seven.
This will mark the Strikeforce debut for Romero, de Lima and Mein. Both Romero and de Lima are undefeated, boasting 4-0 and 8-0 records, respectfully.
Nunes and Davis are 1-0 each in Strikeforce’s women’s division.
It was also reported that the prelims for the yet-to-be scheduled Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix finals will also be shown on HDNet.
