Jacob Volkmann has won four straight fights in the UFC.
And now, “Christmas” wants to unwrap a fight with an elite member of the lightweight division.
Volkmann (13-2) defeated Danny Castillo via unanimous decision at UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle earlier this month. On the same card, he saw Ben Henderson dominate Jim Miller.
Volkmann, a three-time NCAA wrestling All-American, wouldn’t mind squaring off with Henderson next.
“I was amazed,” Volkmann said of Henderson’s performance against Miller. “He looked amazing out there. He dominated everything: standup, takedowns, ground. The only thing that maybe he got a little carried away (with), was sometimes he was on the ground and Miller grabbed a knee or an ankle and he tried to do a toehold or a knee bar on him, but Henderson, other than that, he controlled the fight. Every aspect of it.”
Volkmann sees a bout with Henderson as “fun,” but also mentioned he wouldn’t mind facing Clay Guida, Melvin Guillard or Donald Cerrone.
Since suffering back-to-back losses in his first two UFC fights to Paulo Thiago and Martin Kampmann, Volkman, who also owns a chiropractor, has went to a decision each of his last four times out – all wins, with two being split and two being unanimous.
