Ronny Markes has won five straight fights, including his UFC debut earlier this month over Karlos Vemola.
But, Markes (12-1) has plans to move down to the middleweight division after competing at light heavyweight, according to his coach a, Jair Lourenco.
Markes has earned four submission and five knockout victories during his brief career.
Markes talked about his disappointment in not finishing his fight with Vemola after the bout.
“I didn’t happen like we wanted it to,” the Brazilian said. “I wanted to finish it earlier, but we all get scared when we’re debuting in an event, and I fought a guy who had fought many times there before. I wanted to knock him out, but I followed the plan B. They’ve told me he was a wrestler, but in there we’re fighting MMA, it’s not a wrestling bout. You have to find the right moment to use your tools.”
