As the UFC is set to announce a new, blockbuster television deal with FOX, Spike TV has announced an end to the relationship between the cable company and the combat sports group.
A note sent out by a rep from Spike TV said the following:
‘The Ultimate Fighter’ season 14 in September will be our last. We are increasing our commitment to distinctive, original series that we own such as Auction Hunters” and “Bar Rescue” which are delivering on our goal to reach broader audience. Our 6-year partnership with the UFC has been incredibly beneficial in building both our brands, and we wish them all the best in the future.
This confirms what everyone knew already, as talks broke down between the UFC and Spike TV earlier this year.
There has been talk of Spike TV going after Bellator Fighting Championships, which are currently seen on MTV2.
