A light heavyweight contest between Aaron Rosa and Fabio Maldonado has been signed for UFC Live on Versus 6.
“Two exciting light heavyweight sluggers have verbally agreed to throw down October 1 in Washington D.C. as Aaron Rosa takes on Fabio Maldonado,” UFC President Dana White said.
The main event of the card, set to be shown live on Versus, will feature bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz defending his title against Demetrious Johnson.
Rosa (16-4) lost his UFC debut earlier this year by TKO to Joey Beltran at UFC 131. Prior to that he had won four straight fights and six of seven.
Maldonado (18-4) is 1-1 in the UFC, having defeated James McSweeney before falling to Kyle Kingsbury in a Fight of the Night at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale. The loss snapped an 11-fight win streak by the Brazilian.
Other bouts signed for the main card include Pat Barry meeting Stefan Struve at heavyweight, Anthony Johnson taking on Charlie Brenneman at welterweight, and Matt Wiman facing Mac Danzig at lightweight.
The Rosa-Maldonado fight will probably end up on the preliminary card along with Michael Johnson-Paul Sass, Yves Edwards-Rafaello Oliveira and Mike Easton-Jeff Hougland.
