Welterweight Rick Hawn has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming Bellator welterweight tournament after suffering a knee injury during training.
Hawn (11-1) was expected to be part of the eight-man event which kicks off at Bellator 49 on September 10 in Atlantic City.
According to Hawn’s Twitter account, the injury will keep him sidelined for at least a few months.
This was to be Hawn’s second tourney with Bellator, as the 2004 U.S. Olympic judo team member took runner-up honors in the season four event, falling to Jay Hieron in the finals.
Prior to the loss to Hieron, Hawn had won his first 11 fights, including seven by knockout.
