Former UFC veteran Karo Parisyan has signed to face Jordan Smith at Amazon Forest Combat promotions first event in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil on September 14.
“The Heat” is 19-7, having lost his last two fights. He was cut from the UFC after being stopped by Dennis Hallman at UFC 123.
Parisyan, though, made an offer to UFC President Dana White letting him know he would step in for Nate Marquardt at UFC Live on Versus 4 after Marquardt was taken out of his main event fight with Rick Story. Charlie Brenneman took the fight and defeated Story.
Smith is 15-2-1, having gone 1-2 in his past three fights. “Mata Ele” competed on the 11th season of The Ultimate Fighter, falling in the first episode to Brad Tavares, who went on to reach the semifinals.
The fight card will also feature the final bout in the career of Royler Gracie, who meets Shooto champion Masakatsu Ueda. Satoshi, a Japanese Olympic judo gold medalist, meets former PRIDE standout and WEC 185-pound champion Paulo Filho.
