Ovince St. Preux is ready to take that next step.
St. Preux, a former star at the University of Tennessee, has won eight straight fights and now sits at 11-4 for his career.
St. Preux’s management team, led by Nima Safapour of Alchemist, believes the rising star is ready for the challenge that Gegard Mousasi presents.
“We want Gegard Mousasi,” Safapour said. “We think Gegard is one of the most accomplished fighters in this business. We think it will be an exciting fight for the fans and it’ll be the right kind of evolution because both guys are coming off a win. If the stars align, I think Gegard would be the best fight, for both fighters, to be honest with you.”
Taking on Mousasi (31-3), a former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, would put St. Preux in his biggest spotlight of his career. Mousasi has not lost since dropping the title to Muhammed Lawal in 2010.
St. Preux scored a first round submission via strikes against Joe Cason at Strikeforce Challengers in July. He has won his past four Strikeforce and Strikeforce Challengers fights.
