Chris Lytle handed UFC President Dana White a white envelope Saturday afternoon during weigh-ins for tonight’s UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle card, to be shown live on Versus.
While no one made mention of the act during the process, White knew exactly what was the envelope contained.
“Sounds like a decision made by a father and a husband,” White said. “I thought it made total sense. Classy, classy, great guy.”
Lytle (30-18-5) has been fighting since 1998. The father of four is also a full-time firefighter and has made mention of plans of attempting a run at the Senate in his home state of Indiana.
“I feel like I’m not being the type of dad I want to. I got four kids, and lots of times I feel just an immense sense of guilt for not being there in times when I should.”
White said the letter served as an official notice of his retirement and contained a thank you letter for his time in the Octagon.
“Lights Out” will square off with Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy in the main event this evening.
FightLine.com will have all your live and up-to-the minute results and news from UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle tonight.
